All individuals are entitled to their own beliefs including beliefs on what is acceptable sexual orientation and qualifications of marriage. Religion is a complicated manner as there are so many. In the United State, the law does not correlate with any particular religion. Though they may influence some decisions, the US government is not a theocracy, thus the nation does not follow one belief but a set of laws with the individual's freedom to their own god or no god. But when it comes to marriage laws, religion becomes a bigger factor as, “for many people, a marriage is not complete unless it has been solemnized by the relevant authorities in their religion, according to the rules of the religion”. Because of this legislators are obligated to factor in religious opinions though many go against the acceptance of non-heterosexual sexualities. For many people religion contributes to their perspective on same-sex marriage.
